- The student completes the ODS online application (https://disabilityservices.gatech.edu) and submits sufficient documentation in the form of an evaluation or a letter completed by a qualified licensed professional such as a physician, psychologist, therapist, or audiologist.
- The student must be made aware that documentation must be recent (typically dated within 3 to 5 years). Any evaluation older than 5 years will be used as supplemental documentation. The professional judgment of the Disability Services provider will determine the acceptability of the documentation.
- An ODS administrative professional will review the application and assign the student to an ODS coordinator. If documentation is not submitted at the time of application, the administrative professional will email the student requesting the documentation.
- The ODS coordinator will schedule a meeting, preferably in person, but online is an option, to discuss and review eligibility for services and student responsibilities. In this meeting, the application and all documentation materials will be reviewed. The coordinator will also explain the procedures for parents/guardians who wish to participate in the interactive process and obtain the student’s signature on the Release of Information form if appropriate. Finally, the coordinator will review the intake packet that the student will need to review and sign.
- The coordinator will not decide on eligibility for services until all required documentation is received.
- The ODS coordinator will schedule a second intake meeting; during this appointment, the student and coordinator will discuss the impact of the student’s disability and accommodations, and approval of accommodations will take place.
- Please allow 3 business days for the Letter of Accommodations to be completed and issued to the student via AIM. Once this letter is issued, the student will have full access to the AIM platform.
